Gilles Berquet is the Master of stylish and rude BDSM photography. He graduated at the Academy of Fine Arts in France and he started his artistic career in the early ’80s. His field is eroticism and he never stops impressing serious collectors with the endless variety of fetishistic obsessions which flow out of his vibrant images.
Clovis Trouille and Georges Bataille, both of whom were on the margins of Surrealism, but principally the painter and photographer Pierre Molinier, are the artists who influenced Berquet the most, who pushed him the most to become a photographer.
Gilles’s current solo show in Rome is titled “Playtime”. It includes unpublished vintage and new color and black/white photographs, plus two short movies “La Parade Fantome” and “Microfilms” created by the artist.
