Tie Me Up, Tie Me Down, is French/Welsh duo Risqué’s debut album featuring Billie Ray Martin and New York City’s legendary transsexual sexbomb, Amanda Lepore. (You might remember Risqué’s performance in the European themed room at the 2007 Skin Two Rubber Ball )
Their unique sound is electro-pop, reminiscent of Kraftwerk with a light shade of Pet Shop Boys – but in an more overtly sexual kind of way. Nathalie – a seductive French vixen sings about all manner of lewd behaviour accompanied by Huw – an upbeat male vocalist with a serious British accent not unlike Mr.C of The Shamen.
After listening twice, I put it on again, and I was still bopping in my headset – something that always signals a good album to me. I loved their rendition of Talking Heads’ Psycho Killer, one of my all time favorite songs. Listen out for their unique take on the Velvet Underground’s classic SM anthem Venus In Furs.
You can order it here and deshabille-toi – I know you wanna….
